VuPeople is a patented technology with two core applications: People Insights and Bystander Protection. It addresses the main privacy challenges of smart glasses in public spaces, making HoloVu smart glasses more trustworthy, respectful, and socially acceptable.
1. Face Recognition for Known Contacts Only
The system recognizes only people whose identities already exist in the user’s phone contacts. It does not rely on public databases or identify strangers.
2. Integration with Personal Phone Data
The system connects facial recognition with the user’s personal phone data, including emails, messages, calendar events, and contact information.
3. Local Operation
The technology works locally on the user’s smart glasses or mobile phone. There is no need to use the internet or send personal data to the cloud.
4. Full User Control
The user has full control over what information is shown, as well as when and how it is displayed.
5. Socially Acceptable Design
By limiting recognition to known contacts, the system supports privacy, builds trust, and makes smart glasses more socially acceptable in everyday life.
While Meta’s approach is described as identifying people through cloud-based image processing and social platform data, our approach is intentionally limited to recognizing trusted contacts privately, locally on the device, and under the user’s control, enabling timely and context-aware insights.
1. Privacy Beyond Blur
It can hide, remove, replace, partially reveal, or reconstruct protected people or areas instead of relying only on simple masking.
2. Viewer-Specific Media Rendering
The same photo or video can appear differently to different viewers based on identity, permissions, relationships, or context.
3. Context-Aware Access Control
What is visible can change based on who is viewing, where they are, the device being used, the time of access, and active permissions.
4. Privacy by Design Across the Full Lifecycle
The system can apply privacy rules at capture time, during storage, during sharing, and again when the media is opened.
5. AI-Powered Scene Reconstruction
When someone must be hidden, the system can use inpainting and scene reconstruction to keep the final image or video natural and visually clean.
For most of history, a picture showed the same thing to everyone, every time. This technology changes that by allowing one image to present different versions depending on the viewer’s identity, permissions, relationships, and context. It transforms pictures from static files into intelligent, privacy-aware media.
